a note for the new year At this point in history (ourstory, really) we stand on the precipice of unprecedented transformation and the question is not "do we jump?" but rather "how will we land?" Our landings will be completely dependent upon the faith we hold in our abilities to create our own nets, or parachutes, or trampolines or whatever it is we decide to create. Because in this new paradigm we must step forward to assume responsibility as creators of our individual and collective destinies. This responsibility cannot be out-sourced. Our thoughts and intentions are the tools we must learn to work with, because these are ultimately the very threads in the fabric of the reality we choose to weave. And in order to create the world we want for ourselves we must begin loving ourselves without condition. Love is always the catalyst for true, lasting, and meaningful change. And as we cultivate true self love, this love has no choice but to be unleashed out into the world. That's how love works. We project and reflect to the world our internal dialogues. As it is within, so it is without. And knowing that we have the power to direct this conversation gives us the great opportunity to guide it consciously in a loving direction. All of the intense dramas we see being played out on the world stage right now are the last gasps of those who would not have all of humanity discover its true identity because it means the demise of the current power structures and systems. And the current power structure wants very much to maintain its control. But the revolution has begun and in this revolution the old, fear-driven, divisive, unsustainable systems and institutions of control and power can no longer hold the Earth captive. Because as we individually awaken to our own power to create the realities we want for ourselves, we do so collectively for humanity. And this revolution will be led by our capacity to seek truth, justice, and beauty and manifest change using the compass rose of our hearts. For love is the energy of creation and by our very existence we have an inherent right and responsibility to cultivate our self love so that we may be of service to the world. Our hearts are the filter through which we experience love. And compassion is one of the highest expressions of love we can experience. When we feel compassion we are wide open because we have allowed ourselves to step inside the heart of another. This is one of the most exhilarating and terrifying feelings imaginable because it feels as if we surrender our control. And once compassion is experienced, that portal can never be shut down again. We can certainly choose whether or not we will acknowledge that opening, but it remains open nonetheless and this paves the way for us to channel our innate healing energies and abilities outward. R.E.M., America's biggest alternative rock band that recently called it quits after 31 years, so eloquently encapsulates this juncture: "It's the end of the world as we know it." An end to the old, worn-out systems of control that vie for every ounce of our attention and energy. An end to the manipulation of fear in order to control. An end to the suppression of the truth about who we really are - impossible, mathematical miracles. Exquisite biological computers with an unlimited capacity to love. And through our love we experience compassion that, when ignited, fuses our hearts with the heart of another creating a portal through which Universal love may stream unobstructed. The potential we now have to create what we desire for ourselves and for our planet is truly as unlimited as our imaginations. Yes, it is the end of the world as we know it. And I feel fine.
